Is this the year of the Social CEO?
I think it should be!!!!!
CEOs need to step out from behind the desk and become socially savvy to lead their businesses into the next decade.
In 2016, from Fortune 500 companies, only 40% of CEOs were active on social media. Of those users, 70% only used LinkedIn.
I am seeing more and more CEOs start to understand the importance of being social media savvy and have been helping them to find their voice online.
Why is it important for CEOs to be active on social media?
- They can position themselves as industry thought leaders which can create massive amounts of PR for their company - think Richard Branson
- They help build trust and show consumers what the company stands for. They can humanise the company.
- They can connect with customers and really understand what they are saying. -
- A CEO's reputation matters to an organisations success and a Weber Shandwick study found that they attribute nearly half (45 percent) of their company’s reputation to the reputation of their CEO.
Becoming a social media savvy CEO will become a distinct competitive advantage for those CEOs and companies who are prepared to invest in their social media.
