Why Speaking Will Explode Your Business Blog

Why Speaking Will Explode Your Business
Speaking is one of the easiest ways to get your message out to large numbers of people and leverage your time. In my businesses, I have found that the more I speak, the more success that follows.

I have also found that speaking is a great way to build relationships with people.  As you have probably heard me say before,  we do business with people we know, like and trust, so it makes huge sense that you fast track the relationship building process by connecting in a more personal way.

Just think about it. Imagine being in a room with 70 people who are keen to hear what you have to say.   By providing interesting and useful content and connecting with the audience, at the end you will likely have many people who would like to work with you.
At the end of my talks, I have sold products, coaching and even had people wanting to join my business.

Speaking Rocks!!!

Now, I know not everyone is keen to get out in front of a crowd.  Speaking rates up there with death as the thing that people fear the most.   But the only way you get better at it,  is to do it.  Start small and then build.  I was just reading an article about billionaire investor, Warren Buffett and how he was terrified of public speaking.  He knew it was important for his business so he started to teach small groups until he became more and more confident.

How do I Start Speaking?

It is not as hard as you think.

1)  First, you need to put together a talk that will help people solve a problem.  When I write a talk, I think about what problem keeps my ideal audience up at night with worry and then answer how to overcome that problem.  For example, I speak about "How to Bulletproof Your Business With Additional Streams of Income".  This talk answers how small business owners can make more money so they don't have to stay awake at night worrying how they will pay their bills. In my fitness business,  I talk about the "6 Secrets to Get Bikini Ready for Summer " which addresses the concerns women have about getting into their bikini.  So, to find you ideal topic, survey your followers and ask them what causes them the most worry.

2) Make sure your talk includes the steps that will solve the problem.  Put together a system that helps your audience overcome their problem and have your talk address those steps.

3)  In your talk, you have just shown people how you can help them and you will do them a disservice if you don't let them know how you can work with them further. Create an offer at the end of your talk so people can work with you on a more personal level.
This is the part that you really need to feel comfortable with so you don't feel like a used car salesman.  Remember, you have something special to offer to your audience so feel confident in this part of the talk.

4)  Even though I have put this as the 4th step, this is something you need before you can go out and speak.  It is your speaking kit.  Put together a bio that includes your experience,  your head shot and your list of talk topics.   Event organisers will know you are serious if you have this ready to go.

Where Can I speak?   Mireille Speaking

Teleseminars/Webinars - If you have a fear of speaking,  a great way to get started is on tele-seminars or webinars.  From a technology standpoint, they easy to set up and there are many providers that are low cost. Think of a topic that your audience would really be interested in and promote your teleseminar to your list.   If you don't have a list, you can be a guest on someone else's teleseminar. I really love teleseminars as I can run it from the comfort of my own home but still have a large reach.

Speaking At Other People's Events - I love speaking at other people's events.  It is a great way to be introduced to a new audience of people.  I also don't have the headaches of running my own events. I suggest that you write down a list of all the conference, expos and business groups that service your niche.  Look at their website and see how you can get booked as a speaker.  Remember that promoters book speakers up to a year in advance so make sure you contact them with plenty of time.

Speaking at Your Own Events  - If you have your own list, why not put on your own event.  It can be as simple as having 10 of your friends in your living room and working up from there.  As your confidence and list builds then you can aim to put on much larger events.

Lastly  - Practice, Practice and Practice.  Remember, the more you speak, the better you become.
